The Royal Mint have astonished the coin collectors world with a decision to release its first edition of 2024 in such a low mintage, and thousands of collectors will miss out on ever owning one. This is the first in a series of 3, all with a limit of only 500 coins minted. The most infamous dinosaur we all know of, has been added to the series, but only 500 T-Rex Silver Proof 50p coins have been released in this format.
The full colour version has a limited edition of only 5,000, but still ten times more than this one! The Royal Mint have always varied the amount of coins produced in all denominations and grades, and very occasionally a coin is released in such low quantities they become highly collectible. For example, the 2009'Kew Gardens' circulated 50p coin only had a mintage of 210,000, compared with an average of 5,000,000 minted for general circulation for a new design. The'Kew Gardens' Silver Proof version has an official release of 7,575 in all formats, (mainly sets), but an estimate of only 1,933 of these were released in individual boxes and command high prices.
The 2024 Tyrannosaurus Rex 50p Silver proof release is almost 4 times less than that! If you are a collector, get one now, who knows how difficult they will become to obtain one in the future at any cost?? The coin is in mint condition, (capsule unopened), and the box, COA, booklet and outer cardboard presentation box are pristine.
